Pluto - crisis, fate and power As we journey in an anti-clockwise direction around the Zodiac, after the sign of Virgo (ruled by Mercury) and Libra (ruled by Venus) we come to Scorpio, ruled by Pluto (and traditionally Mars).

power planets Pluto is one of the three outer transpersonal planets, and like Neptune and Uranus has a long cycle, so it takes many years to traverse a sign. Consequently it affects an entire generation. This planet, small in physical size, nevertheless represents some powerful forces. We are not talking lightweight here! Think of the times in your life when you have faced crises, death, control freaks, and those times when the bottom has fallen out of your world. Quite often these coincide with the times that your Pluto has been activated, or transiting Pluto has contacted one of your planets, likely to be the Sun, Moon and/or Saturn. Pluto in its raw state symbolises the misuse of power and coercion; the Holocaust and Hitler's role in World War 2 is an example of this. We can also see it in the extremes of pornography, which is a world away from mutual love and relating. In the next state, Pluto shows sheer drive and obsession towards achieving goals. Nothing stands in the way of this, and a total force of will can be used for good or not so good. There is also a karmic element; the seemingly cruel lessons of fate necessary to balance the light and shadow. And then ultimately, we have triumph over horrendous adversity, an opportunity for healing and transforming that can only come through a long process of inner vision and self discovery. We can see all around evidence of this energy in the forces of destruction and then conversely, the elements of light and healing within its midst. This is one of the three planets that is beyond our ability to 'use' but its power enters our lives, and ultimately represents hidden riches through the lessons learned in its presence.
