Birth Charts, or a Horoscope is a representation of the moment of your birth, and it shows the positions of all the planets in our Solar System. In effect it is a picture of your connection to the Universe.

a Horoscope or Birth Chart
The Chart shows the planets and the Sun Signs as symbols, or glyphs.

The lines drawn across the Birth Chart represent the aspects, or angles between planets. These angles determine a relationship between those planets, for instance if the angle is around 90 degrees the two planets are said to form a square, which is a very strong relationship.

Birth Charts, what are they?

A Birth Chart (also known as a Horoscope) is really a diagram that depicts the position of the planets in relation to the earth at the time of birth of an individual, or even the time of any specific event.

Around the outside of the Birth Chart above within 12 segments (equidistant in conventional Astrology or unequal in Huber Astrology which I use), are the 12 Astrological Sun Signs in sequence. This is a portrayal of the zodiac which the planets are seen to pass through in the sky when viewed from Earth.

In an inner circle is marked all the planets in our Solar System (including the Sun and the Moon), they are portrayed relative to the Zodiac.

In the center of the chart are marked (coloured lines are only used in Huber Astrology). These lines indicate a certain relationship to each of the Zodiac signs and Planets. There various individual interpretations are blended to form the unique character of the individual or event.

the origins

The word Horoscope comes from the Greek word 'horoscopos' which means: "I watch the rising" which is the ascending sign or point in the zodiac that is rising over the horizon at the time the horoscope is drawn.

in your Horoscope

The words "Horoscope and Horoscopes" are used in popular culture to refer to a text relevant to each sun sign (or star sign), predicting feelings and a period of future events, this text is derived from the study of a Birth Chart.

Horoscopes is just the plural form of the word which in popular culture has come to represent a collection of Horoscopes one for each of the 12 Sun Signs, each offering a forecast text derived from studying the chart for everyone of a particular Sun Sign.

Thus your "Horoscopes" or "Star Signs" has become embedded in popular culture as a text relevant for each Sun Sign that "predicts" a given period of future events. This is Sun Sign Astrology which though it can at times be quite uncanny is really for fun and rather general, If you think this sums up Astrology you are just scratching the surface.

A skilled Astrologer interprets the positions of the planets and their relationship to the 12 Astrological signs of the Zodiac. Each planet has meaning, as do each of the signs. These meanings and their interpretation is an art that is several thousand years old and based on long observation. The position of the planets has also been subject to long observation and can be predicted for past present and future.

In a personal consultation with a professional Astrologer your individual Horoscope will be fantastically more accurate than one crafted to account for everyone of a certain Sun Sign!
